When throwing a party in Hollywood, one has a lot a lot to live up to.
We are accustomed to big movie premieres, big houses, big SUVS and the like.
Well, General Motors Automobiles gave a pre-Oscars bash that exceeded out expectations!
Held at the Palladium Ballroom on Sunset, rolling up to the red carpet, one knew this was going to be a big deal.
Celebrities such as Bai Ling and Jennifer Love Hewitt attired in glamorous evening gowns worthy of Oscar status got the 60 foot press line revved up for the evening. Upon entering the venue it was obvious party planner Jeffrey Best spared no expense to ensure all guests a great time.
With an all-white décor, the Palladium was transformed into an elegant party-ready gala. Food at every turn, numerous bars and lounge space to hang, the feeling was all New York.
General Motors (once known as your father,Aos kind of car company) has a hip side and who knew? They showcased their newest concept cars while pairing the celebrities with the hottest designers in town.
The timing of the Oscars was just right to get a mix of corporate and hip all in the same room. Rock stars such as Anthony Kiedes of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots mingled with the models and young starlets only our town could provide.
Of course the main attraction was the celebrity-studded fashion show which proved that with the right planning, fashion offerings abound in LA. Gucci, Dolce &Gabbana, Christian Dior, and Valentino were inspired to make special creations for the evening and glamorous they were! With models like Minnie Driver, Christina Applegate, LeeAnn Rimes and Rose McGowan
working the runway to cheers and fanfare, the show really was a smash! The thirty-minute showcase of both designers and celebrities kept the audience wanting more (we are a fashion-starved town)! The show was followed by a great set by the Wallflowers who seemed thrilled to be playing for a live audience after such a long hiatus.
As far as fashions in the crowd, one word: miniskirts.
This look was wall-to wall and it seemed the shorter the better.
When I spoke with actress Vivica A. Fox of this length craze (or lack of), her attitude was if you got it, go for it! That seemed to be the unanimous response from all the beautiful ladies with the bare legs. As the evening was winding down and the celebs were off to another pre-Oscar party at the Playboy Mansion, I wondered, "What makes a party wildly successful in this tough town?" Jason Harley AKA "Chef J" who owns his own events planning empire, summed up the evening and an answer to my question perfectly "great space, great food, beautiful people
,… all the ingredients for a super evening." Said like a true chef!
